How old are you? Where are you from? When did you start riding?
I am 16 years old from Seymour, WI. I started riding when I was 4 years old, and my first bike was a Honda 50.
What got you into the sport?
One day while I was at my aunt and uncles house they took me for a ride on a dirt bike and I loved it! Shortly after, I watched my first Supercross on tv and I told my parents that I wanted a dirt bike. From this point on I was hooked.
What is your favorite track?
My favorite track is Sugar Maple Mx which is a local track in Wisconsin. It always gets super rutted and it has lots of jumps to throw whips to just have some fun on.
Who's your favorite pro racer and why?
Chase Sexton. He grew up kind of close to where I am from and I like his never give up mentality. He has gone through lots of adversity and struggles but he always seems to put it behind him and do his best.
What would you say Carter/Minor League Moto has helped you with the most?
I would say Carter has helped me personally with just calming me down and being more smooth on my bike. Sometimes I just want to go fast and forget about the little things, but Carter always makes sure that I stick to the basics and keep my mind focused. He always checks up on me during the races, and he makes sure everything is in order whether it’s my technique and race craft, or bike adjustments that are needed. He also has helped with my off-the-bike training helping me understand what it takes to succeed at the level I want to be at.
To this point, you've gone to public school. Do you think that this has hurt your racing?
I think that it has hindered my racing and has limited me to my riding time and training time. On the flip side, I think by going to school it has made me the person I am and it gets my mind right because I get to hangout with my friends and go to basketball games, football games etc. I get to be a normal kid! Going to school has helped me have a strong work ethic, and keeps me from thinking about dirt bikes 24/7.
You ran up front a lot during the spring nationals this season, how do you feel about your performance?
I feel that my speed is there. I thought it was a big step in the right direction because usually spring nationals are pretty rough for me since I don’t get a lot of riding time in before them. I feel that if I can figure out how to run the pace consistently and stay off the ground, I will be right up there with everyone and contesting for championships.
What's the 5 year plan for Brody Barth? Big bikes soon?
As of now, after Loretta Lynn’s this year I will be going to big bikes and going into B class. I am not sure how many years of B I will do but following B class I will move up to A class and get my necessary pro points I need for supercross and motocross. I would love to do it on a factory team, but regardless I want to compete at the highest level of the sport I love the most. I really don’t have any other plans besides this because I know if I put the work in and always push myself I will be at that top step.
What are some things you want to improve upon this season?
I want to improve my pace and be able to sustain it for a longer period of time. I know that I can go fast, it’s just a matter of if I can stay off the ground and not get sketchy. I also want to work on my technique and make sure my lean angle continues to improve.
What are your goals for 2024?
My goals for 2024 are to obviously win. I want to be in the top 3-5 at all the nationals and put myself in contention for championships. I also want to focus on filling out a little bit and adding some strength so when I move to 250 I can be confident and comfortable on it.
Last but not least, who would you like to thank?
The man above for always looking over me. My Mom and my Dad because they always support and put up with me when I’m being a little snot. I would like to thank Carter from Minor League Moto for always doing the most for me and all of the other kids he trains. John from Southeast Sales for all of his help throughout the years, Brad and everyone else from FXR, 6D helmets, BlackDiamondMx, FMF, Mika Metals, Acerbis, Nick from Q Mods he is always busting his butt for us, Dunlop Moto, ODI Grips, Tyler Nowlin and Billy from Powerband Racing they are always by me at the track and always checking on me, and Scott Goggles.
